The World's Top-Selling Beers

Most people, if not everyone, have taken at least a sip of beer to unwind, celebrate, reminisce, or at times, tend to a broken heart.

Beer - or other forms of liquor has been a part of the lives of many and has affected the way people interact in business and more personal stages in life.

Today is September 1, a day closer to one of the most popular festivities in Germany - the Oktoberfest, which really happens in the last week of September and finishes in the first week of October. This festival has influenced many other countries to have their own similar version and has of course given interest to travelers who'd want to experience the Oktoberfest in the country that started it all - Germany.

Today, we shall take a look at the world's top-selling beers - a list of sorts to peak your taste for the upcoming beer fest. (not in any special order, of course)

1. Snow Beer (China) -  Reported and posted many times as the world's number one selling beer brand. Sold primarily in Mainland, China.

2. Corona Extra (Mexico) - a beer that you can drink like tequila (with lime and salt), or in a very Mexican manner - which is to add some tabasco, spicy tomato juice, salt and pepper. Salud!

3. Brahma (Brazil) - the best selling brand in Brazil.

4. Tsingtao Beer (China) - popular in Hong Kong, Taiwan and other parts of Asia.

5. Bud Light (America) - The top selling beer brad in the US for years. Flavors also include Bud Lime and Bud Platinum among others.

6. Budweiser (America) - also known as America's Great Lager.

7. Skol (Brazil) - According to some, Skol is better than Brahms - but everyone has their own taste in beer. Who knows? Give it a try and hit us back with which one you prefer. Skol or Brahms? Both or None?

8. Heineken (Netherlands) - who doesn't know about Heineken? And yes it is from the Netherlands.

9. Yanjing Beer - also known as Beijing Beer. Come to think of it, that makes 3 entries by China. Wow. They have got to love beer.

10. Coors Light (USA) - does not pack too much carbohydrates which is great for those conscious about their beer-belly growing and is best served cold always.

You might be thinking, wait a minute, there are other better beers than that! - Well, like I mentioned, everyone is entitled to their own taste in brew. These, however, are the ones that sell the most.

I know, in Germany, local bars make their own brew to sell. That means each bar's beer has its unique taste - hmmm... adds more sense into having your favorite bar and another thought to on why you'd want to visit Germany this Oktoberfest.

Personally, I would go for our own Philippine beer. San Miguel Light - which is not yet so popular internationally but definitely beats the taste of some of the beers above (no offense meant). This one is found around the world though:

It is the same brand but it's San Miguel Pale Pilsen. All that rich bittersweet zest and aroma in one - if you're a beer lover, you have to try this one. It's taste and quality has earned a silver medal in last years World Beer Championship (2012).

So, take a break, relax, have a beer or more and remember:
Drink moderately. ^^,

- Till next time
