Budget Tablet Feature: CDR KING'S FASTPAD 10" REVIEW

Let's face it, there are so many tablet manufacturers out there that are trying to capture the market of the massess. However, there are but only a few that actually stand out to be worth the buck when it comes to the money you are about to spend. What most manufacturers don't get is that even if people are only willing to spend a smaller amount of money on a tablet, the basic requirements are pretty much the same - it has to be responsive, easy to use, and still offers a good quality of service. I have made a review of one such product that has met this criteria of value for the buck with the article on Kata T1 tablets and now I am here to introduce another one that I believe is really worth taking a look at if you are unwilling to shop for a 10" tablet at the price given by Samsung and Apple but yet still get the type of functionality that these high end manufacturers offer. Here I'll be discussing CDR King's Latest Tablet offer the FastPad 10".

CDR King has been quite stereo typed by most people here in the Philippines as a company that is a budget source for computer accessories and peripherals. But CDR King has come a long way since being the major source of budget Blanks CDRs and DVDRs, now they are manufacturing their own laptop computers, cellular devices and even Android Tablets. The latest addition to their gadget line up is the FastPad 10" which runs on an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The CDR King FastPad 10" runs on Google Android's ICS 4.0 software and isn't bloated with manufacturer applications, instead it just runs the basic stock but rather favored Android 4.0 System. With  single core 1.2Ghz Cortex A8 1Gb of Ram memory and built in 8GB Nand Flash Memory (expandable through microSD Card of upto 32GB) one would think that it would be slow due to the processor speed, but surprisingly because of the way it is built internally moving and navigating around the system was quite pleasurably fast and responsive. Running games like Riptide, Contract Killer Zombies, and even temple run was a breeze through the system. I believe the DDR3 ram they used has a lot to do with how it helps programs run within the system, but that is just speculation. It was even at par with the way my own Samsung Galaxy Tab2 P3100 in terms of navigation speed and responsiveness. In terms of battery life the CDR King FastPad 10" is equipped with a 6600mAh and since it runs on a single core CPU Cortex A8 processor, power consumption is fairly low and outlasts many of the high end units being sold by high end manufacturers. It's screen which uses a multi-touch capacitive LCD, though not the best when compared to the higher end models, still delivers pretty good quality pictures as you watch videos and browse through the net due to the full HD pixel quality it offers. Wifi isn't a problem either as the CDR King FastPad 10" device supports 802.11 b/g/n signals and is seemingly quite quick to lock on the once I picked. It also has a pretty standard VGA camera for Video Skype Calls but its rear camera is surprisingly 5MP. It has and supports HDMI 2160P which isn't found in most high end tablets and has a USB Host that allows users to attach any generic USB Keyboard, Mouse or USB Flash drive such as those Internet Sticks from Sun, Globe and Smart.

Overall, I really liked the CDR King FastPad 10". Imagine, all the features it has considering the SRP of only Php6,990 it really packs quite a lot. The way it looks isn't cheap either. The only time I had noticed it to be a bit slow on was waiting for it to start up, but once it has you won't even notice that it's running a single core cpu versus those using dual core 1ghz Cpu. Size and weight aren't an issue either as it isn't far from those being sold by the high end manufacturers. if you are looking for something to buy that isn't sacrificing on features, but low on the budget scale and wants something a tad bigger than 7" I would strongly recommend getting the CDR King FastPad 10". I have even read reports that it is already rooted out of the box and thus you can already download superuser access to tweak the software but this is still something I would need to confirm.  One thing I did notice though is that if you want to buy one, you'd have to check with several CDR King branches as many of them only have very limited stock.
